About Cover Pages Target Sheets in CCH ProSystem fx Funnel

If you will send PDFs for processing in CCH Scan, you can use CCH ProSystem fx Funnel to digitally insert cover pages and target sheets in your PDFs.

CCH Scan uses cover pages and target sheets to organize and bookmark PDF files.

Note: When a target sheet is not included in a CCH Scan job, CCH Scan considers each page to be its own document and creates a bookmark for each page.

Neither cover pages nor target sheets are required.

For more information and recommendations regarding cover pages and target sheets, see the CCH Scan Help file.

Insert a Cover Page

You can select to insert a cover page when you initiate a CCH ProSystem fx Funnel job or after you've already created a PDF. Cover pages are inserted at the beginning of the PDF.

For information on adding a cover page when you initiate a job, see Creating a New CCH ProSystem fx Funnel Job.

To add a cover page in a PDF you have already created, proceed as follows:

  1. Do one of the following:

  1. Select the catalog to use when processing the files.
  2. Enter a name for the cover page.
  3. If needed, select the check box for Extraction Cover Page. Extraction cover pages alert CCH Scan that the data in the PDF will be autoflowed to a tax return.
  4. Click Add.

Note: If your firm uses Document routing slips instead of cover pages, you can print the routing slip to PDF (or another file format), and add it to the CCH ProSystem fx Funnel job, just like any other file.

Insert a Target Sheet

You can insert target sheets before, during, or after the conversion process. If you need to force files into specific classifications, use one of the manual processes below. The automatic process will add either a single page or a multi-page target sheet before each file in a conversion job.

Tip: If your job consists of only single-page documents, you do not need target sheets. Scan automatically creates a bookmark for each scanned page if there are no target sheets.
