Using the Edit mode
Certain tasks performed in a PDF cause the PDF to be rebuilt. Typically, the rebuild process occurs immediately after the task is completed, causing a slight delay. If you need to perform many tasks in a PDF, frequent rebuilds can significantly slow the editing process. In these instances, you should consider working in Edit mode. The Edit mode saves you time by preventing the PDF from rebuilding until all required editing tasks are completed.
To ensure the most efficient process, the following limitations are in place when you are in Edit mode:
- The PDF Viewer ribbon is disabled. All tasks must be performed using the right click menu in the navigation pane.
- The only tasks that you can perform are inserting target pages, adding files, and deleting pages.
- The generic thumbnails display for added pages. These are replaced with real thumbnails when you exit the Edit mode.
- The changes you make are not reflected in the main PDF Viewer pane until you apply your changes and exit the Edit mode.
To work in Edit mode, proceed as follows:
- Open the existing PDF in CCH ProSystem fx Funnel.
- Click Open on the PDF Viewer ribbon.
- Navigate to and select the PDF.
- Click Open.
- Select the Enable edit mode check box at the bottom of the navigation pane.
- Right-click the pages in the navigation pane and then select the task you want to perform. If you are deleting pages, you also have the option to press Ctrl and select multiple pages at one time.
- Click Apply when all changes are completed.
- Click Yes to confirm your changes. The Edit mode is disabled, and the PDF is rebuilt automatically.
