CCH Scan uses four types of folders to store source documents and PDF files. Each type is described below.
Import folders are where CCH Scan retrieves scanned documents for processing. Upon installation, CCH Scan creates one import folder: Default. You can add or remove import folders as needed, as long as you always have at least one. If you have multiple import folders, CCH Scan will process jobs first by the priority assigned to the import folder, and then by the order that the import folders are listed on the Folder Settings tab.
Archive folders hold the scanned source documents after they are processed by CCH Scan. When you create an import folder, you must set up or select an archive folder for that import folder. A default archive folder is created when you install CCH Scan. You can use this archive folder for all of your import folders, or you can create a different archive folder for each import folder.
Export folders contain the bookmarked PDF files that are published by CCH Scan. When you create an import folder, you must set up or select an export folder for that import folder. A default export folder is created when you install CCH Scan. You can use this export folder for all of your import folders, or you can create a different export folder for each import folder.
The Failed folder holds the files that could not be successfully processed by CCH Scan. It is created by default on the machine where CCH Scan Administrator is installed.
