About CCH Scan Services

CCH Scan is a collection of services that work together to process your scanned documents. You can start or stop services on the Services tab in CCH Scan Administrator. You can use this capability to troubleshoot problems or to temporarily suspend all CCH Scan jobs, if needed.

Services in CCH Scan are grouped into the following four categories:

Classification assigns each document to a predefined template for PDF bookmarking.
Export converts images to PDFs, creates the bookmarks in the PDFs, and then exports the bookmarked PDF files to their designated export folders.
OCR performs optical character recognition (OCR) on each form. As part of this process, it performs quality assurance by detecting rotation, skew, and noise. The image is rotated and otherwise enhanced as necessary, then converts images to text. Individual pages are split into distinct documents and jobs based on cover pages. It also splits single and multi-page documents based on target sheets and deletes blank pages and target sheets from the batch. It also deletes the entire batch when completed.
FolderWatch monitors Import folders for files to be processed. It also updates batch statistics per the Import Status folder.
